Quick Tips for Traveling with Children:

  1. For long car trips, bring something to keep your little ones occupied until you get to your destination. I don’t mean give them a tablet or a phone either! Bring coloring books, or a simple card game such as uno or go-fish, play the license plate game if they are old enough to read and identify states, play iSpy and get creative with it, create a playlist and jam out.
My favorite thing to do is plan the car ride and if your passing through multiple different states, create “State Bags!” These can be so fun for your littles, each state you arrive in (indicated by the HUGE “Welcome to…” sign) announce what state you just arrived in and give them their goodie bags. These bags can include a picture outline of the state for them to color in, a couple little snacks, such as a granola bar or fruit snacks, and a little toy.
  2. If you have the time, do some quick research like what the state bird is, or some cool facts about the state. You can then play “trivia” and ask them what they think the state bird is or give them hints about some of the cool facts you picked up – hint: you can quickly google search it while you’re in the car and you’re not driving!!
