The O’Neal School boys and girls cross country team travelled to Charlotte on Saturday to race in the 5th annual Hare and Hounds meet. It was a perfect day for a race in McAlpine Park and they had some great results.
The boys had four participants in the open division and were led by junior John Grimm with a 68th place finish and time of 20:44. Following him was senior Josh Russell with a time of 21:22, senior Ian Johnson in 26:30, and sophomore Tommy Zhou in 29:16.
The girls had five participants in the open division and were led by a stellar performance by 7th-grader Molly Kuzma. Molly lead the majority of the race, but was overtaken just at the end for a 2nd place finish overall and a time of 21:58. This was a personal best for her. She was followed by 8th-grader Emma Johnson with a time of 24:58, junior Paige Thomas in 27:16, freshman Ceci Bockoven in 29:57, and 8th-grader Bray Woodard in 33:14.
